WELCOME TO SENSORY HAVEN

Our space is designed with specialized sensory equipment that supports neurodivergent children, providing a safe and engaging environment for families to connect and grow together.

About

SAFE SPACE - BIG PLAY - ALL ABILITIES

At Sensory Haven, we’ve created a welcoming environment where neurodivergent children can play, explore, and build confidence in a space designed with their sensory needs in mind.

Our facility features sensory equipment, engaging play experiences, and thoughtfully designed spaces that encourage movement, exploration, social connection, and self-expression - all while allowing each child to participate at their own pace.

Sensory Haven is more than a place for children and teens. It’s a place for families to feel comfortable, connected, and supported. Whether your child is looking for active play, sensory exploration, opportunities to make new friends, hold their therapy sessions at Sensory Haven, our goal is to create an environment where every child feels welcome and every family feels like they belong.

Come discover a space where every ability is celebrated and every child has room to shine.

TEEN ROOM

The Teen Center will feature a gaming area, comfortable seating, opportunities to participate in video games, board games, arts and crafts, social gatherings, and other age-appropriate activities in an environment designed to respect sensory needs and individual differences. The goal of the Teen Center is to help teens strengthen social connections and experience a sense of belonging. Our mission is to create a space where teens can be themselves, build lasting friendships, and feel accepted, valued, and included.

CORE VALUES

Projects
core-values-puzzle.gif

For some children, particularly children with autism or other sensory differences, these environments can be difficult because of:

Loud noises
Crowding
Bright lighting
Unpredictable activities
Large numbers of children
Limited quiet spaces
Difficulty transitioning between activities
Lack of age-appropriate social opportunities

Many families often find that traditional indoor playgrounds do not adequately meet the unique needs of their neurodivergent children, leading them to avoid such spaces altogether. At the same time, teenagers with developmental differences frequently outgrow standard children’s play areas, yet they continue to require structured opportunities for socialization and recreation in a supportive environment. Sensory Haven bridges this gap by creating diverse sensory environments within a single facility that cater to varying age groups and sensory profiles.

SENSORY HAVEN VISION

Sensory Haven was inspired by my journey as a mother of two children diagnosed with autism. Before my oldest son’s diagnosis, I had a limited understanding of autism and the challenges families face. Through our journey, I experienced firsthand how difficult it can be to navigate services, resources, and systems while advocating for your child.

Working in public service for 20 years, I also recognized another gap in our community: the lack of inclusive recreational and social opportunities for neurodivergent children and teens. Many traditional facilities aren't designed with their sensory, behavioral, social needs or therapy in mind.

That inspired me to create Sensory Haven—a welcoming space in Riverside where neurodivergent children can play, explore, socialize, and build confidence in an environment designed with their needs in mind.

Beyond the physical setup, Sensory Haven acts as a bridge for families who are often searching for a place where their experiences are validated. It creates a shared landscape for parents and children to interact without the pressure of typical social environments, emphasizing that every child and teen is valued exactly as they are.
